Amanda has been a star of both stage and screen (emphasis on "has been"). In hopes of reviving her career, she has returned to her hometown, Buffalo, to star as Mme. Lyubov Ranevskaya in a local production of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. Roy, the production's Stage Manager, Debbie, his eager assistant, and Jackie, the determined Director, are all excited to have a "big name" in their show. But, what will happen if she gets a better offer, or if she really is "over the hill"?
